Originally called Cedar Mortgage, David A. Nilsen began the business in 1980 as a mortgage brokering company. The company grew to a multi-million dollar venture with four retail offices in eight years. Wanting to change professional focus from traditional mortgage brokering services to private money lending, Mr. Nilsen sold the company while retaining the Monterey office of the original firm and changing the name to Cedar Funding.

Cedar Funding remained a sole proprietorship until 2003, when the business was incorporated as Cedar Funding, Inc. in order to facilitate our next level of growth. The firm continues to enjoy dramatic expansion due to strong word of mouth and repeat clientele from our ever-expanding base of borrowers and investors. The company boasts a 96% repeat business with borrowers, and a 98% rate of repeat business with our investors. As a result, the company now manages in excess of $100,000,000 in private investor funds.

Cedar Funding Mortgage Fund, LLC, our pool of first and second trust deeds, opened in January 2004.

The president, David A. Nilsen, has a Bachelor of Science degree from San Jose State University with a major in Real Estate Finance. He has been a California Real Estate Broker since 1978 and a licensed agent since 1976. He has lived on the Monterey Peninsula since 1978.
